A 6-year-old boy presents to his pediatrician with 5 days of nosebleeds and a rash. The nosebleeds have increased in frequency to three times a day. The mother reports no fevers at home, though he did have 4–5 days of cough and runny nose 2 weeks ago. His past medical history is unremarkable and he takes no medications.On physical examination he is afebrile with a petechial rash and some crusted bloodon the nares. There is no splenomegaly.
